Consumer Beware! No matter if you are a residential or commercial customer there are pavement "rip-off artists" and unscrupulous contractors looking for you. Here are a few tips on common scam tactics and how to's on avoiding "fly by night" contractors out to only make a buck.

1)  A basic, but important rule to follow. Never contract any job on impulse no matter what the good reason or "today only" bargain may be.

2) Avoid the old "left over materials" line. Someone stops by and says they have some materials left over from another job they have just completed and will offer you a great price right now. Reputable contractors calculate materials carefully and seldom have more than a small amount of "left over" materials. Never enough to do another entire job.

3) Look out for price units. Watch out for contractors who are bidding your job by how much material they will use. Such as someone who bids your sealcoat job by the gallon or your asphalt work by the ton. Stay away from these guys. A good contractor gives firm bids with a "total" price.

4) Beware of the non-local. Does it really make sense for a contractor with out of state plates to be at your door or office. If someone is working outside of a 100 mile radius, beware!

5) There are too many others to list but remember another basic rule. Use common sense and never decide "right now" on a job that you did not ask for first.

6)  Does your deal sound to good to be true? It usually is!

7) Finally, do not be afraid to ask questions. Know what you are getting and for what price. If they will not answer your questions, call us,
